Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Comma, a personal finance dashboard provided by COMMA APP PTY LTD (ACN 696 227 746, ABN 21 696 227 746) ("Comma," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using Comma, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service Description
Comma is a personal finance dashboard that allows you to import bank transaction data via CSV file upload, encrypt it client-side, and view analytical visualisations of your financial activity. Comma does not access your bank accounts directly, does not aggregate transaction data via Open Banking or third-party services, and does not store readable copies of your financial data.
2. Account and Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Comma account. By creating an account you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- The information you provide during signup is accurate
- You will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
- You understand that Comma cannot recover your password or your encrypted data if you forget your password
3. Encryption and Password Recovery
Comma encrypts all your data client-side using AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your password. We have no ability to recover your password or decrypt your data. If you lose your password, your data on our servers becomes permanently inaccessible. You are solely responsible for maintaining your password.
4. Not Financial Advice
Comma is not a financial advisor. Comma does not provide personal financial product advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or any other regulated financial service. The information presented in Comma, including in the AI Chat feature, is for informational and analytical purposes only.
For advice tailored to your personal circumstances, including investment decisions, tax planning, or financial product selection, you should consult a licensed financial advisor in your jurisdiction.
5. AI Chat Feature
Comma includes an optional AI Chat feature that uses third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) via your own API key. When you use AI Chat:
- Your prompts and contextual financial data are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you select
- This data does not pass through Comma's servers
- The AI provider's terms of service and privacy policy apply to that interaction
- AI responses are not financial advice and may contain errors
- You should verify all information independently before acting on it
6. Pricing and Refunds
Comma offers a free 30-day trial period followed by paid one-time purchase tiers (Pro and Lifetime). Pricing is shown in your local currency at checkout, with payments processed by Stripe Inc. as Merchant of Record.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid purchases. To request a refund, contact hello@comma.finance.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Comma for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access another user's account or encrypted data
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Comma
- Use Comma to upload malicious code or content
- Resell or redistribute access to Comma without our written permission
8. Intellectual Property
Comma's software, design, branding, and content are owned by COMMA APP PTY LTD. Your data remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to store your encrypted data on our servers for the purpose of providing the service.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings > Account > Delete Account. Upon deletion, your encrypted data is removed from our servers within 30 days.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms. We will provide notice where reasonably practical.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, COMMA APP PTY LTD's total liability arising from or related to your use of Comma is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or AUD $100, whichever is greater.
We do not guarantee that Comma will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Comma is provided "as is."
11. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
These terms are reviewed and updated periodically. Last updated: 5 May 2026. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Comma after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Victoria, Australia, except where local consumer protection law in your jurisdiction provides for a different forum.
14. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
